Technique
Using oil paint on canvas or wood the paintings are derived from the layering process found in the computer program PhotoShop. Three computer prints are produced illustrating the background, mid-ground and foreground of the painting. these prints are then used as preparatory sketches to aid the production of the final painting. The first print is utilized to manufacture the background using acrylic paint on acrylic gesso primer; the second to paint the detailed figure of the portrait in oil paint. finally the third is used to indicate the number of semitransparent glazes required to push the portrayed figure to the required depth behind the picture plane. The paintings are then finished by applying oil based matt varnish.
